With the year coming to a close, we took a look back at some of our favorite dishes made in 2018. From our weekly Foodie Friday lunches to special events, 2018 sure was delicious! The Sbragia Family Vineyards culinary team consists of our Estate Chef Heidi Finney and our new Sous-Chef, Yuri Cruz who joined the team this summer. The duo was busier than ever and had some fun creating new recipes throughout the year. Here are our top 10 dishes of 2018. We can’t wait for what’s in store for 2019. Cheers!

1. Jamacian Jerk Jambalaya

This Jambalaya recipe was made for the 2018 Wine & Food Affair. It had been a few years since participating last in the Wine Road event, but we were so glad to be back! This recipe is easy, spicy and delicious. We paired this with our 2015 La Promessa Zinfandel to compliment the baking spice notes in the wine.

2. Bahn Mi Sandwiches

One of Chef Heidi’s Foodie Friday creations, a simple and delicious Bahn Mi Sandwich. A classic Vietnamese sandwich offers a little sweetness from the pickled carrots and spice from the condiments such as jalapenos. Oh, and did I mention these came with Loaded Vietnamese fries?

3. Watermelon Gazzpacho

This simple Gazpacho recipe is the perfect balance of sweet and savory. A refreshing appetizer made for the July heat. It takes about 45 minutes to prepare for a fresh side option. This vegetarian recipe is always a crowd pleaser.

4. Sbragia Big Mac

Another Foodie Friday classic. Celebrating “National Fast Food Day,” the kitchen was inspired by the famous Big Mac burger. Using double the burger patties and double the cheese, this was double the fun.

5. Seasonal Fruit Tart

One of Heidi’s true passions in life is her love for baking. She hopes to one day own her own small bakery. This mixed berry tart is something she likes to whip up for estate lunches at the winery. It’s a versatile dessert because it is not overly sweet and you can work with whatever fruit is in season.

6. Wine Popsicle

Wine infused popsicles are summertime favorites! Using our Home Ranch Sauvignon Blanc and 2017 Gemma Rose, it makes the perfect refreshing treat on a hot afternoon. The fruit combinations are endless, so you can make them all season long.

7. Pretzel Bites & Chardonnay Fondue

Chef Heidi is a die-hard Football fan, which inspired her Pretzel bite recipe. She used some of our Gamble Ranch Chardonnay to make a creamy fondue sauce for a fun new twist on a Cheesy dip.

8. Pumpkin Spice Doughnuts

For our Fall Wine Club, we included a Sbragia Spice kit including Ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, and ground allspice so members could try this recipe at home! This mini doughnut recipe had a fall feel that we can’t get enough of. Chef Heidi paired this with our 2015 Gino’s Zinfandel.

9. French Onion Soup

For one of our final Foodie Fridays of the year, this French Onion Soup hit the comfort food mark. This dish is rich, warm and flavorful for the winter months approaching. We served this French Onion soup with a Steak Sandwich which made the perfect dipping combo. We will definitely need to revisit this for our 2019 Foodie Friday menu…

10. German Potato Salad Recipe

If you aren’t a fan of the mayo-based potato salads we are used to enjoying at bbq’s and family events, then this may be for you. German potato salad is typically served warm, but can also be served room temp or chilled. What I love about this particular style is all the acid from the vinegar and mustards. Acid also makes the perfect partner for wine! This recipe pairs really well with our Home Ranch Chardonnay.
