Another compelling wine, Sbragia's 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Wall Vineyard is full of implosive energy. Bitter chocolate, menthol, plums, licorice and tar explode from the glass in a rich, powerful wine loaded with Mt. Veeder character. The superb, vivid saline-infused finish adds to the wine's personality and energy. There is no shortage of personality here. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2029. Ed Sbragia can be counted on for wines that deliver consistently outstanding quality and plenty of personality. His 2009 Cabernets are particularly of note.
Dense and earthy, with a cedary, forest floor rusticity…becoming more appealing on the finish. Chewy tannins. Drink now through 2026.  (James Laube)
INTERNATIONAL WINE REPORT
The 2009 Sbragia Cabernet Sauvignon Wall Vineyard is really tasty, offering a mouthful of black cherries, cassis, spices, herbs, licorice, chocolate and even some minerals in the mix. Full-bodied, powerful, concentrated and plush, but has just enough acidity to keep everything fresh and lively. The finish is long and polished pumping out more chocolate and dark mountain fruits. The 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc was racked into small French oak barrels where it aged for about two years prior to bottling. This has a bright future but give it some time. …One of my favorite offerings is the brilliant 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Wall Vineyard. Black raspberry, blueberry, licorice, incense and graphite characteristics are accompanied by an opaque purple color, gorgeous complexity and richness and hints of toasty oak as well as flowers. The wine is generous, savory and expansive, but the wealth of extravagant fruit nearly hides abundant tannin in the finish. This brilliant Cabernet is actually underpriced for its quality. Drink it over the next two decades.Â
THE TASTING PANEL
Rich and explosive with deep flavors of black raspberry, cassis and plum with minerals and licorice nuance; supple, toasted and floral with great intensity and lovely balance; stunning.
